Using AI to Save Time Creating Content

AI is revolutionizing how we tackle our daily tasks, like creating posts for social media and emails. This blog post will teach you to leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence so that you can spend less time worrying about hitting publish - freeing up more space in your day to focus doing work that energizes and inspires you!

AI is Everywhere, But…

You can’t open any news source right now without finding a piece on artificial intelligence. And the way people are talking, it’s like a gold rush of sorts. It can leave you feeling like everyone is on their way to California and you’re still trying to figure out what you’re doing over in New Jersey.

(That’s pretty much all of the gold rush knowledge I have, so I’ll stop there.)

I’ve been using it in my work this year and I’ve found it to be a helpful tool. Basically, it gives me tailored templates on demand.

I put in some prompts, it gives me some options, I tweak them to make sure they sound like me.

Here are a few ways that you can use it in your work.

Note: I have been experimenting with Jasper.ai. I may get an affiliate commission if you click any of the links in this article.

Where I Use AI in My Content Creation

The majority of the work that I do is in the email marketing, and social media marketing space. So that’s what you’ll find here.

You’ll learn how I use AI with:

  1. Engagement posts for social media

  2. Varying social media posts

  3. Sprucing up email subject lines

Let’s take a look at what each of those look like.

Engagement Posts for Social Media

I hate to take someone else’s ideas and pass them off as mine. Don’t you?

So, if I download 250 + conversation starter questions from some big time social media expert, am I required to somewhere give them credit? How? And where?

Using questions that were generated by AI puts me at ease.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. go to jasper.ai > Templates > Engaging Questions

  2. input the Topic that the questions are going to cover

  3. input the Audience it’s intended to reach

  4. input the Tone of Voice

  5. input how many questions you’d like it to create (for each number you’ll get five questions)

  6. edit them to sound more like you

  7. copy and paste them into your scheduler, Content Stockpile, or both.

You’ll get a list of open-ended questions. These are perfect to use for your Engagement posts if you are working with the PAGER method for your social media.

Varying Social Media Content

I’ve written before about how to vary your content in this blog post (What Does It Mean to Variate Content).

By taking one idea and riffing on it five different ways you 5x your social media posts. This saves you oodles of time coming up with new ideas for posts.

Here’s how I use AI to help me come up with the different post variations.

  1. go to jasper.ai > Templates > Content Improver

  2. input the idea that you want to riff on

  3. input the Audience it’s intended to reach

  4. input the Tone of Voice

  5. input how many variations you’d like it to create

  6. edit them to sound more like you

  7. copy and paste them into your scheduler, Content Stockpile, or both

You’ll get a list of variations based on your idea. These are perfect to use for your General  posts if you are working with the PAGER method for your social media.

How to Find Your Tone of Voice

Both examples I’ve given you have required a Tone of Voice prompt. Here’s how to figure that out (for you or for your clients’ tones of voice):

  1. go to jasper.ai > Templates > Tone Detector

  2. in Content Description, copy and paste a recent piece of your writing or transcription from a meeting / video of your speaking

  3. input how many variations you’d like it to create

  4. note them and use for future prompts

You can also come up with your own prompt for this, but I like to use the Tone of Voice Detector to make sure that the brand voice is consistent.

Sprucing Up Email Subject Lines

Email subject lines have become almost like a word puzzle. The best performing ones usually have an emoji, are nine words or less, are front loaded with the most important words. Here’s a whole article about it with data.

This is not a place where I worry about my artistic and creative integrity being upheld.

So, I come up with an email subject line and then use Jasper to give me some ideas to punch it up a bit.

  1. go to jasper.ai > Templates > Email Subject Lines

  2. input Company / Product Name (sometimes I put in what the promotion, initiative, or event is)

  3. input a paragraph from the email when asked “What is your email about”

  4. input how many variations you’d like it to create

  5. edit your favorite to sound more like you

  6. copy and paste your into the email

Imagine Having a Writing Assistant

Using artificial intelligence to help you with your social media and email content is a great way to free up time. You don’t have to spend time figuring out how to say what you want to say. Just send it a few prompts and you’ll get a few options.

Does it take the place of you actually coming up with the ideas and tweaking them to sound like you?

Nope.

But it does help you quickly generate a few options that you can put your stamp on and send out.

Try Jasper.AI for Free

Whether or not AI is ultimately going to mesh well with your work flow, it’s worth a try to see what everyone is talking about. In my book, any moments that you can save doing tasks that you don’t love means that you have more time to doing what you do love.
