Mailchimp Certifications Explained

Mailchimp is tool to send out email, social media, and print campaigns. Most people use it to send out email blasts, but there is more to it than that.

The problem is, most people don’t know all of the capabilities that it has, and they don’t realize that by getting more out of their Mailchimp accounts, they can increase their revenue significantly.

I’ve always had a scrappy approach to any software that I spend money on. If I am going to shell out money once a month, I want to know what features are included and make decisions as to whether or not I need to use those features at any given time. I take the same approach to my clients’ accounts.

Two years ago I made a decision that instead of learning a little about a few types of email marketing platforms, I’d learn a lot about the one that most of my clients were using. And that was Mailchimp.

Since then, I have become a Mailchimp Partner with certifications in three different areas of the platform. Let’s break down what they are, and how they can help you.

Newest Certification - Automations

The individual classes I took on the different elements of Malchimp’s automations capabilities.

The one asset that we can never get back is time. And I often hear from people that have small marketing teams that making the most of their time is critical for them.

Automations are an excellent way to save yourself marketing time. Once they are set up, they happen in the background so you can do other stuff with your brand. (Or not do stuff with your brand and, you know, enjoy the weekend with your family.)

With automations you can:

  • welcome new subscribers

  • send out a series of emails leading towards a sale

  • let people know when you have a new blog post / podcast episode / or YouTube video out

Because I am such a believer in the importance of automations, I made sure to dive deep to understand exactly how they work and what capabilities they have within Mailchimp.

Email Certification

Another Advanced Certification I received from Mailchimp involves email and its best practices. In order to receive this certification I had to demonstrate that I not only knew the ins and outs of sending emails from Mailchimp, but overall best practices for email marketing in general.

From this certification I was able to develop a six-point quality assurance check before emails go out.

This training also helped me to solidify a Pre-mail Plan that I go through with clients prior to sending out email campaigns on their behalf.

 

Mailchimp Foundations Certification

The first of the certifications that you can get with Mailchimp is its Foundations training.

You know how you think to yourself, “I know that this platform can do more, but I’ve never taken the time to learn it.”

Well, I’ve taken the time to learn it.

I went through every element of the Mailchimp platform - from stand alone email campaigns to landing pages to postcards (yes! Mailchimp can send out snail mail too). All the while testing out possibilities and being tested on my mastery of the material.
